Work Packages

WP 1 – Clinical Trial

The overarching aim of WP1 is to conduct a two arm, phase IIIb clinical trial to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of a CHIKV vaccine in two populations: healthy adults (arm 1) and adults living with HIV under successful ART (arm 2), in Kenya and Tanzania.

WP 2 – Immune profiling

As part of WP2 a comprehensive survey of B and T cell immunity of trial participants as well as identification of the primary correlates of protection will be conducted.

WP 3 – Integrated Prevention & Surveillance

WP3 strengthens vector control and complements prevention through improved diagnostics and integrated epidemiological surveys in humans and vectors.

WP 4 – Technology Transfer & Strategic Partnership

WP4 focuses on capacity building and strategic partnerships in sub–Saharan Africa (SSA) to accelerate the clinical evaluation and equitable distribution of the CHIKV vaccine and other vaccines against neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), particularly in high outbreak settings and among vulnerable, underrepresented populations.

WP 5 – Exploitation, Dissemination & Outreach

WP5 will maximise EAVI’s impact by ensuring broad visibility, uptake, and sustainability of project outcomes.

WP 6 – Project Management and Coordination

WP6 provides efficient and transparent project governance.

WP 7 – Scientific Project Leadership

WP7 provides scientific governance and leadership across the consortium.
